Hall Wedding [5.19.18]

Writer: JadenJaden

This was such a special day! Abbey is my sister and I was honored to be able to help with this! Abbey and Kasey have been together since high school and everyone has been waiting for this to happen for the past few years. Kasey finally proposed last October!

Abbey had said she wasn't interested in a big wedding, or even a wedding at all really! I, being the semi pushy sister that I can be, told her that I loved weddings and I thought she may regret not having one. I offered to "throw" her one, as unorthodox as that was. She agreed as long as she didn't have to do anything! Well it was not long after that she warmed up to the idea and soon this little elopement that I was planning grew into a guest list of 200 and a full production! Our dad ended up being the mastermind behind so much of the wedding and was really instrumental in making it come together!

It was a group effort on all parts! When it was still a small wedding I had ordered a dress for Abbey but her Grandmother ended up altering it and adding pieces of her mother's wedding dress to come up with a beautiful, sentimental , and original dress for her special day.

The day was certainly story worthy! Everything was going smooth, the centerpieces were out the decor was up and suddenly the wind was blowing and the sky turned dark. We were able to flip the chairs up and get all the centerpieces out of the weather before the rain hit.

Afterwards the sun was shining, everything was dried off and set back up. We were taking pictures with our day on track only for the sky to open up again. Everyone scrambled, everyone who was there worked together; covering the speakers and sound equipment, grabbing centerpieces, and quite literally holding down the fort. The wind was blowing sideways, there was rain, hail, thunder and lightning. Abbey and the guests that had arrived were holed up in the shop waiting for the storm to pass.

Safe to say those of us who weren't made up with hair, makeup, and dresses were soaking wet with clinging clothes. But again the sky cleared, with about 30 minutes to go time! There were leaf blowers and rags galore. Everyone grabbed something and worked to get things dry!

It was incredible watching everyone work together to get this wedding set back up for Abbey and Kasey, this time the weather was finished. The ceremony started only five minutes behind and it was beautiful, officiated by Abbey's grandpa.

The decor was mainly items gathered from family members or made by Abbey and her family!
